Wired Alarms

Standard alarm system – Control panel and keypad, windows and doors alarmed plus 2 motion detectors plus 2 sirens .

The basic house alarm system involves the use of magnetic contacts on all accessible window and door openings on the perimeter of your home. These simple devices detect when a window or door is opened. This system also includes at least 2 motion detectors (PIR). The motion detectors act as a backup in the case of a burglar getting past the perimeter.

The control panel we use are the HKC Securewave (2011) which is a hybrid panel. That means it has 10 zones for wired devices but can also take wireless devices if needed.

When the alarm activates it sets of the sirens both inside the house and at the front of the house with a strobe light flashing. The alarm can be deactivated only by the correct code being typed into the keypad in the hallway.
The standard alarm system by law will only ring for 15 minutes. After that time it will reset itself and will only ring again if there is another attempted break in.
In some cases shock sensors may be used on certain window and doors.
These devices will activate the alarm in the event of vibration being picked up on a window or door.
This system is powered by mains electricity but also includes 2 backup batteries. One battery is in the control panel and keeps the system going if the electricity is cut. It recharges when the power comes back. The 2nd battery is located in the external bell. It keeps it ringing if a thief cuts the alarm cable.
